Justin L. Ward

Attorney Justin L. Ward of The Ward Firm is an experienced criminal defense and personal injury trial lawyer who has represented clients in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and statewide.  Mr. Ward began his legal career as staff counsel at Infinity Insurance, where he represented defendants and cross-complainants in personal injury actions, and also represented the insurance company in uninsured motorist cases and other litigation involving disputes with insureds.

Following his experience at Infinity, Mr. Ward joined the Los Angeles City Attorney's office as a criminal prosecutor before moving to Sacramento and joining the Sacramento County District Attorney's office.  Between his civil and criminal law experience, Mr. Ward has amassed a wealth of legal experience, including:

  • Trying multiple civil bench and jury trials to verdict
  • Trying numerous criminal cases (theft crimes, drug offenses, sex offenses, DUI, crimes of violence)
  • Participating in binding and non-binding arbitrations
  • Handling small claims appeals
  • Participating in mediations
  • Joining in Mandatory Settlement Conferences
  • Taking over 100 depositions
  • Preparing and arguing noticed and ex parte motions in limited and unlimited jurisdictions
  • Representing clients at restitution hearings
  • Evaluating cases for settlement
  • Negotiating dispositions in hundreds of cases
  • Handling preliminary hearings

Today, Mr. Ward assists victims of personal injury accidents and represents people accused of crimes in state and federal courts statewide.  In addition to his private practice, Mr. Ward sits on the Sacramento County Indigent Defense Panel, providing criminal defense counsel to those who cannot afford to hire their own attorney and cannot be represented by the Public Defender or Conflict Criminal Defender offices.
